About Us

An indigenous non-profit mental health organization
founded by psychologists in 2020 to respond to
growing psychosocial, emotional and behavioral needs.

Our Story

During the pandemic, communities in Uganda faced unprecedented psychosocial, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Parents and caregivers presented with depressive and anxiety symptoms, while children showed signs of dysfunctional family systems. This highlighted the urgent need for reachable, affordable mental health services.

Led by Jimmy.K, a Behavioral Psychologist, FHMI was established as an NGO registered under Uganda’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (Reg No: INDRI172016629NB, Permit: INDP0006629NB).

Located in Kitumba, Fort Portal City, we serve Kabarole, Bunyagabu, Kyenjojo, and surrounding districts through office-based services and community outreach.

A Message from a Behavioural Psychologist.

Kusemererwa Jimmy

Your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are deeply connected. Sometimes, understanding these patterns is the first step toward meaningful change.
As a Behavioural Psychologist, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your challenges, develop healthier coping strategies, and build the confidence to create positive change in your life.
You don’t have to face it alone — healing begins with one conversation
